Shirley Lavina

 

Born in the middle of rough and tough boys,

Shirley was always in the fray.

Pet skunks and critters and all life’s great joys,

That girl, she knew how to play.

A most elegant tomboy is who she was,

Her parents looked in her eyes and smiled because;

 

She’s gentle, kind, and courageous,

Sweet, tender and compassionate,

Genuine, pure, and charitable,

Strong, generous, and beautiful.

 

There’s no daughter in the world,

Who’s wonderful as Shirley.

No one can compare to their Shirley Lavina.

 

It started back in his residency,

When he met her she was a nurse.

They spent their first date out fishin’,

And quickly she was sure.

Time went by and their fondness grew,

As he looked into her eyes he always knew;

 

She’s gentle, kind, and courageous,

Sweet, tender and compassionate,

Genuine, pure, and charitable,

Strong, generous, and beautiful.

 

There’s no other in the world,

Who’s wonderful as Shirley.

No one can compare to his Shirley Lavina.

 

Married in July of ’61,

But soon they weren’t alone.

While they still spent time ballroom dancin’,

They took the kids out to roam.

Summers in the motorhome and campin’,

Winters at the ski lodge,

As the kids looked up at their mother,

They could see it in her eyes;

 

She’s gentle, kind, and courageous,

Sweet, tender, and compassionate,

Genuine, pure, and charitable,

Strong, generous, beautiful.

 

There’s no mother in the world,

Who’s wonderful as Shirley.

No one can compare to their Shirley Lavina.

 

Time flew by and before she knew,

Grandkids filled the house.

From cooking lessons to Halloween fun,

She never left adventures out.

She rubbed our backs--we’d fall asleep,

We never went without.

As she turns her head and smiles at us,

We can see without a doubt;

 

She’s gentle, kind, and courageous,

Sweet, tender, and compassionate,

Genuine, pure, and charitable,

Strong, generous, and beautiful.

 

There’s no grandma in the world,

Who’s wonderful as Shirley.

No one can compare to our Shirley Lavina.
