My deepest belated condolences to Ted’s family. I learned late about Ted’s passing and although had lost touch with him, I could not forgot such a special person as Ted. I got to know Ted while at WESTDIV in San Bruno enjoying his friendship & mentorship. Even after all these years Ted’s calm intelligence, easy humor, compassion and generosity is etched in my memory.
When a mutual friends & colleague (Morri Fos-hati) passed-away unexpectedly at a young age, I witnessed how Ted provided support selflessly to Morri’s wife (Barbara) her 2 young daughters. I regret loosing touch with Ted but he’ll always be my inspiration of our higher ideals. This world was a better place with Ted in it and if I’m lucky I’ll get to see him again in the next. To the family and friends of Ted, It was my great pleasure and privilege to be a co-worker and supervisor of Ted. Ted was a visionary. His final act with NAVFAC was trying to drive us corporately towards a professional project management organization. Ted touched and influenced so many of our project managers. Ted was a compassionate individual as well. A couple of years ago I developed some issues with vertigo. Without hesitation Ted offered me some relief via a nausea relief wristband that helped him on a rather rough ocean fishing trip in the Northwest. And finally I recall Ted being a rather humble man, very unassuming. Ted will be missed, but we all will rejoice with him once again when HE calls us home. God Bless!

In the summer of my youth, I worked with Ted as project manager at WESTDIV in San Bruno. Ted's code was 09A2.43 and my code was 09A2.44. We sat across from each other. We handled two of the largest "Activities: in San Diego. Ted managed Naval Station San Diego plus other smaller "Activites" and I handled North Island plus other smaller "Activities". We both graduated from Berkeley and was about the same age. We had alot in common. Ted was an avid golfer and I was an avid tennis player. We agreed to teach each other our sport but things did not work out as soon as we noticed that the strokes were so very different. Ted was very much a dreamer and a doer. He convinced me that it was a good idea to sail to Hawaii - all we needed to do was to learn how to sail. He took sailing lessons at Foster City and I took lessons at Berkeley. After seveal of these lessons, Ted wanted to show me that he was amost ready. One summer evening after our mutual meetings in San Diego, Ted rented a sail boat. He was determined to sail across the Bay with me on board. Half-way across the Bay in the middle of the ship channel, the wind died down and a hugh Navy ship was barrelling down the channel with no intention of turning or slowing down - all it did was sound its horn. The noise was deafing. Even though we paddled as hard as we could, I thought we were done for. The Navy ship came very close to sinking our small sail boat. It was truly a miracle that we survived. Unfortunately or fortunately, that was the end of our sailing adventure to Hawaii. Ted's next dream was to build a spec house, become developers and be rich. He again convinced me that this was as good idea and I should be his partner in this endeavor. He drew up the architectural plans proceeded to get his contractor's license and quit his job at te Navy. We contracted the foundation pour and the framing work. The rest was done mainly by us. Unfortunately halfway during the construction, the housing market went south. We were fortunate to survive the ordeal with our health, especially when we were putting the roof on a three story building on a steep slope without any safety belts or scaffoldings - just sheer dumb luck. That was the end of our developer's dream of getting rich. Ted was always a free spirit who wanted his independence. He was determined to not settle down. He loved his cute white dog. He got his license to teach golf and was always very good at it. He was a man of many talents. He was never afraid of taking risks. He will be missed by many. So sorry for your loss.

My wife and I offer our condolences to Ted's family. Ted is and always will be my mentor and my friend. I will miss our occasional lunches, his calm words in giving sound advice, and his stories on how he's going to buy a new "toy". Ted loved life and I always thought he had it figured out. He lived it the best he could. He encouraged me to have balance between work and life. We will miss him. May he rest in peace. Napoleon and Meryll
