Obituary of Sotero Urbina Rodriguez

Sotero Urbina Rodriguez, 85, born March 25, 1933 in Plateros, Zacatecas, MX, passed away on June 16, 2018, in Spring Valley, San Diego County, CA. He previously resided in El Paso, TX (30 years), Ontario, CA (7 years), San Gabriel Valley (14 years), and Los Angeles, CA. After completing school in Mexico, Sotero married Maria Eugenia Guereque on February 8, 1957. He worked much of his life as a maintenance man, and welder. In addition, he was the proud business owner of Rodriguez Ornamental Ironwork. Sotero was an accomplished music composer, with much of his music being recorded by various Mexican musical artists and groups. He was an artistic and creative man, winning several ribbons and recognitions for textile art pieces created from different materials. He was also the family barber. Sotero is preceded in death by his parents, Cosme Rodriguez and Maria del Refugio Urbina, four sisters, two brothers, and grandson Gilbert Andrade. Sotero is survived by his five daughters, Virginia Andrade, Adriana Strayer (Tim), Elsa Anderson (Kevin), Sonia Herrmann (David), and Sylvia Rodriguez. Beloved grandfather to Stephanie Stanger, Brittany Andrade, Heather Santy, Bryan Coleman, Michelle Strayer, Natalie Strayer, Matthew Anderson, Brandon Andrade-Pareja, Sydney Coleman, Nicholas Anderson, and Antoinette Coleman, and beloved great-grandfather to Ashlund Stanger, Powell Stanger, Ethan Prado, Alyssa Rosa, Melia Santy, Wyatt Anderson, Cruz Santy, Maximiah Coleman and Nova Purcell. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in memory of Sotero on Wednesday, July 25th at 10:00am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Chino Hills, CA. Private internment, Rose Columbarium, Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario, CA Sotero was cherished by his family. He will forever be in their thoughts, prayers, and hearts.
