Obituary of Juventino Cuevas

Juventino “Ray” Cuevas, born on January 24, 1937 in Santa Paula, California, to the late Maria Cuevas and the late Pedro Cuevas, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, at age 81 on June 22, 2018 in La Mesa, California. From 1959 to 1965, Juventino served in the U.S. Army. He was a hardworking and dedicated police officer for the Port Hueneme Police Department in Port Hueneme, CA, from 1965-1971. He graduated from LaVerne University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1971. Juventino continued his law enforcement career with the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs in 1972 which would later become the Drug Enforcement Administration [DEA]. He bravely worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration as a Special Agent with the Department of Justice until he retired in 1991. Juventino was the beloved husband of Delia Cuevas for 59 years. Juventino is survived by his sons, R. Christopher Cuevas, Peter A. Cuevas, Ted Cuevas, and Robert B. Cuevas; daughters, Delia Anne Cuevas-Downing and Hilary T. Cuevas-Balanon, his ten grandchildren, and great-granddaughter (and tens of millions of fans!) He was always there to help and encourage others to reach their goals. A selfless, compassionate, big-hearted, joyous, and generous man, he will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. The family invites donations in Juventino’s name to the Enrique Camarena Foundation. The memorial service will be private.
