Obituary of Diana Lynn Cook

Diana Lynn Cook, 60, born in Middlesex, England on November 22,1956, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017 at the Sharp Parkview Hospice Home in San Diego. Diana is preceded in death by her father Olin D. Cook of Kentucky; sister Deborah Cook of Riverside; stepfather Raymond J Dawkins of San Diego; and partner David M. Golding of England. Diana is survived by her mother Johanna Dawkins of San Diego; brothers David (Barbara) Cook of Temecula, Patrick (Anita) Cook of Santee, Michael (Michelle) Cook of La Mesa, Sean Cook of San Diego, Casey Cook of San Diego, Jason (Elle) Dawkins of San Diego, Robert (Courtney) Cook of Florida; sister Penny Cook of Kentucky; 15 nephews and nieces; and several cousins. Diana spent her childhood in Palm Springs until 1973 when she moved to San Diego and graduated from Will C. Crawford high school in 1974. After high school, Diana studied at Mesa College and became a dental assistant. In 1982, Diana returned to the land of her birth, met her longtime partner Davy Golding, and received a degree in accounting from Birkenhead College and the University of Essex. An entrepreneur at heart, Diana and Davy owned and operated a successful restaurant and pub in London with Diana handling the books while musician Davy handled the entertainment. Diana also worked as a finance manager for various corporations in England. Diana’s love of adventure found herself traveling across Europe as well as Australia, Mexico, and Turkey. Diana enjoyed reading, traveling, sightseeing and most of all, spending time with family and friends. Diana returned to San Diego to be closer to those family and friends in 2010 and became the finance manager for the California Flight Academy at Gillespie Field in El Cajon. Diana loved working at a job that let her meet great people from all over the world as well as take private pilot lessons. Diana was caring, funny and overly generous. She had the innate ability to make friends and have them be as close as family. Diana will truly be missed by all those who ever came across this beautiful special person. Special thanks to the nurses, staff, and volunteers that showed Diana tender care at the Parkview Hospice Home. Memorial donations may be made to the hospice organization of your choice. Diana’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 11, 2017 between the hours of 12pm and 4pm for a celebration of her life at 10721 Sima Court, Santee, CA 92071.
