Ed De Vall Sr.

June 8, 1948 – May 11, 2022

We lost a wonderful father, friend, brother, uncle, cousin, Papa, and friend in the passing of Ed De Vall Sr.

He was born to Paul and Valma De Vall in Prosser, WA in 1948. They moved to Oceanside in 1951 and he graduated from Oceanside High School in 1966.

Always full of jokes, stories, and laughter, Ed loved his hometown of Oceanside, his second home in Hawaii, and his family and friends. He enjoyed life, surfing, reading, movies, music, cooking, horse racing, drawing, and photography.

Ed is survived by his son, Eddie DeVall Jr. (La Jolla), former wife Eleni DeVall (Oceanside), sister Wanda (and Jerry Cole of Shawnee, KS), sister Becky Robbins (and Jim Macomber of Yakima, WA), Brother George DeVall (Grandview, WA), and longtime best friend, Barbara Newcomb, and family, Connie, Traci, Bucky, Kyle, Mercedes, Trevor and Bree, in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends new and old. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Valma and Paul De Vall.

He worked in a variety of jobs throughout his life including landscaping, bartending, chef, restaurant management, and for the last 20 years at Oceans 11 Casino in Oceanside, which were a big part of his life and love for work. He took pride in his work and liked to have fun while doing it. He was a former member of the Oceanside Optimist Club and helped organize many Chili Cookoffs for the community. During his youth, he was a member of Boy Scouts and Odd Fellows, and Rebekahs.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the California Surf Museum in Oceanside, CA.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 9th at 10:30 am by the Oceanside Pier.

Aloha and Mahalo. We will miss you.
