I met Sal as a junior volunteer at Sharp Grossmont Hospital. I started my shift at 4:30PM on Fridays, and always chatted with him before my shift started and his ended. When I left for college, (I went to college in New Jersey) Sal asked for my email so we could stay in touch. For the past four years of college and since graduating, I received emails from Sal checking in and looking for updates on my life in Jersey. I am extremely grateful that I had the opportunity to stay in touch with him, because every time I received an email from him, it brought such joy to my day. During the most difficult parts of college, I always knew I had somebody in my corner on the other coast. I now live very close to East Brunswick in NJ, and I will use it as a reminder of Sal and the joy he brought to my life. I am so incredibly grateful to have met him.
