Obituary of Linda Mae Calder

Linda Mae (Shearn) Calder was born in Long Beach, CA on June 30th, 1940. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on February 20th, 2020.

Linda was born to Earl & Barbara (Brenton) Shearn as the US was on the brink of another World War.  Times were difficult, and she was expected to clean the house, cook dinner, and other chores for her parents who worked several jobs to make ends meet.  These life lessons learned at an early age helped shape her approach to life.  She graduated secondary school from the Lynwood Academy in 1958.

Linda and David Calder met in Long Beach and were married on June 23rd, 1963.  Linda was a loyal and committed Navy wife, following her husband from Guam to the East Coast, and finally making San Diego home in 1977.  She was a proud and fiercely protective mother to their three boys, David of San Diego, James of Arroyo Grande, and Richard (Kristine) of Rancho Trabuco.  She also loved her six grandchildren dearly, Emma, Trevor, Evan, Samuel, Shane, and Hayden.

Linda was an amazing, magnetic personality whose smile and attitude could brighten the darkest day.  She was incredibly loyal and would give her time to anyone in need.  She had so many wonderful friends and strong loving bonds with them all.  This is especially true in regard to her many close friends at the Metropolitan Community Church of San Diego.  In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating to her church by texting, 619-383-0380.

Linda will be interred in a small private ceremony at Miramar National Cemetery.
