I met Joe in February 2004 when I became the M-B West Coast Rep based in San Diego. Joe loved to talk and he could talk about anything, he had a plethora of knowledge about everything and was always there to help me to understand the operation and procedures of the USN and Marine Corp, it was always a joy to be with him. He would take the micky out of my accent telling me that I didn't speak the Queens English correctly, and then proceed to instruct me in its correct usage, I had to laugh at that. I spent some wonderful times with Joe and his wife Linda at there house and became part of the family, we went to Football and Baseball games together and had some great times, these memories I will never forget. He called me his ‘Brit mate’; he was my friend and will be sorely missed by myself and my wife Jan. Fair winds and following seas old friend.

Joe Glasser was very passionate about aircrew safety and when he came to work for Martin-Baker the respect he had from the United States Navy, was evident for all to see. He carried that passion throughout his whole career with Martin-Baker and was able to represent the values of the company and ensure that Martin-Baker’s relationship and understanding of fleet operations remained positive and relevant for the time. He will be missed and will forever remain a part of Martin-Baker History.
The Martin-Baker team would like to pass on our heartfelt condolences to the family

To Joe's Family,
I first met Joe whilst a young engineer at Martin-Baker and over the years as my career developed Joe was always on hand to help me understand the workings of the USN. He was a mentor and a friend who was always available to listen and provide guidance.
He was unique and will be sorely missed. Thank you Joe for all the help you provided.

To all of Joe's family members,
I met Joe in the early 90s at the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, and we immediately hit it off. He quickly became one of my best friends. He wasn’t only a friend, but a mentor to me. Besides aircraft maintenance, he taught me about the Navy, being a senior enlisted leader, and about life, with all its ups and downs. He was always willing to share his knowledge while spinning an old sea story. I can’t recall anybody, he didn’t get along with. He was always a welcome site when he visited your squadron (armed with a big smile on his face and an awesome sense of humor). This was especially so with all the younger Marines and Sailors, whom Joe was able to share his wisdom with. Since moving to Pensacola, FL 16 years ago, my visits with Joe were limited. We talked often on the phone, especially during college football season. Joe loved his Aztecs! Along with his Chargers and Padres. Regrettably, I won't be able to make it in town for the funeral, but I am hoping to get to San Diego on business this summer and visit Joe & Linda at the Miramar National Cemetery. I will miss my friend and all those talks we used to have. He was a great man! Fair winds and following seas to my shipmate and friend, Senior Chief Joe Glasser.

Joe and I were in the Navy together and knew each other because we were both AME's and competing for the same billet sometimes. I met Joe on a couple of occasions and was very impressed by his personality and we became long distance friends. Joe kept me informed on several of the other AME's at the time and we had a mutual friend in PRCS Lowell Heath.
May the good Lord Bless Joe's Family and be with them in this time of sorrow.
Rest in Peace Shipmate, we have the watch!

Joe and I first met in 1989 at the initial NACES meetings at NAS Miramar when I was in what was to be the first F-14 squadron to transition to the F-14D. I didn't really get to know Joe at that time however, in 1991 while I was an instructor at NAMTRA Miramar I was charged with writing the first NACES training courses. It was during that time that Joe and I along with Brian Daw spent many hours working together putting together the training. From that point on we have spent many great times together whether it was work or play we were always in touch and would get together every chance we could. When I moved back to SoCal in 2015 I was fortunate to be able to spend time more time with Joe. We would meet for lunch every other week at "Sunshine" when I was in town, I would always have to remind Joe it was Sunrise not Sunshine. This Thursday is our standing lunch day so I plan on arriving at 1200 as normal and getting our usual table. I know you can't make it this time but I'll save you a spot and have a pot of hot tea for you. I've shared some photos from a conference held in Ft Worth TX in 2009, one of the many great times spent with Joe throughout the years as well as a photo when Joe met my father-in-law last year. Fair winds and following seas, I'll see you on the other side.

It was a real honor to know Joe for nearly forty years. Once he found out I was serious about learning about anything that had to do with aviation, he never missed a chance to share his vast knowledge about life support on aircraft. My wife and I always enjoyed our visits with Joe. Fair winds and following seas shipmate! You are truly missed!

Joe.... I still remember the day we met! I was just a young impressionable sailor. Your friendly nature made life easy in the AME shop. You were truly a wealth of knowledge. You’re part of the reason I made Chief. Thank you for all that you shared with us and most of all thank you for always valuing the efforts of us little guys. You will be missed. Fair winds and following seas Senior.

It was my high privilege and honor to be one of the few people who worked alongside Joe in the same office as a Martin-Baker technician for over seven years. Joe recruited me for the job, took me under his wing and mentored me through my transition as a career military professional to defense contractor. Joe was always filled with kindness and had a gentle spirit that was almost contagious. We worked and traveled together, all the time enjoying a laugh but always sharing true wisdom. He also learned a few things from me along the way and was never too proud to admit when I was right. My life is richer and better because of his unconditional love and compassion. I will miss him dearly! Joe was always extremely proud of his family and a gleam would come into his eyes as he spoke of each member.
Thank you Joe for all the wonderful years of true friendship! Semper Fi Shipmate!!!
