Obituary of Wanda Carol Hardesty

Wanda Hardesty, a long-time resident of San Diego, California died Monday the 9th of December at 65 years old at Grossmont Hospital from complications caused by her disabilities.

Born June 22,1954 in Oakland, California, Wanda married Gerald Hardesty in 1973. She gave birth to and is survived by four children: Eric Hardesty, Amy Zackary, Sarah Miller and Timothy Hardesty. She is survived by her mom, Lorayne Turner, her brother, Ted L. Turner, and nine grandchildren (Nicholas, Levi, Julia, Samuel, Fort, Natalya, Dillon, Jackson, Daisy).

Wanda had a big heart for children. She volunteered her time at the local elementary school, worked in an elementary school cafeteria, and adored her children and grandchildren. She was devoted to her husband for 46 years and shared many special memories with him. Together they created an atmosphere of love and commitment to their family. She is remembered as being a strong and determined woman.

Wanda is an inspiration to all who were dear to her. She overcame multiple crippling disabilities and persevered through hard times. She never wanted others to see her as being ‘disabled’, but rather saw life as something to be lived and conquered. She was a spiritual woman and served diligently in Sunday School.

Wanda Hardesty leaves a legacy of compassion, kindness, and love in a world that needs more of these virtues. May her soul rest in peace. Her services will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 11:00 am at Legacy Funeral Home in La Mesa, with a graveside service to follow at 1:00 pm at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, California.
