Obituary of Lorraine Gomez Cervantes
Lorraine Cervantes passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the age of 67. Her memorial services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Mt. Helix Park in La Mesa. Shuttles will be provided to and from Mt. Helix with a pick up location across the street from the La Mesa Women’s Club at Penske. Please plan to arrive early for shuttle transport; Uber or Lyft is an alternative option. A Celebration of Life will be held afterwards at the La Mesa Women’s Club, 5220 Wilson St, La Mesa CA 91942.
Lorraine Gomez was born in Los Angeles, CA on September 4, 1951 to Gilbert Gomez and Aurora Luna. She was raised in Mendota, CA soon after her birth until the age of 16. Lorraine married Edward Cervantes on August 19, 1968 after a whirlwind romance. They ran away to San Diego, CA in 1968 where they started a beautiful family together. Eddie and Lorraine were married for 23 years. Lorraine dedicated her life to taking care of her children and grandchildren. She always kept a pristine home, kept in touch with her friends and family, and worked hard to reach her goals, all of which she achieved. She enjoyed watching all of her grandkids’ sporting events, cooking for her family, watching her daily TV shows, organizing her earrings, painting her nails, and doing her makeup. Lorraine was an amazing friend, sister, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and honorary team mom.
Not only is Lorraine going home to the Lord, but she is reuniting with her beloved parents, her sister Kathy, and her brother Gilbert.
Lorraine is survived by the father of her children, Edward Cervantes, her 4 children, and 10 grandchildren: Her eldest son Eddie III, his spouse Christina, and their children Eddie IV and Sophia. Her son Leonard, his spouse Dee, and their daughter Maryah. Her only daughter Lisa, spouse Allen, and her children Alex, Austin, and Abby. And her youngest child Michael, spouse Lanae, and their children Isabel, Michael Jr, Ella, and Lovie. All of whom surrounded her during her last moments and whom she loved tremendously.
She is also survived by her 2 sisters Gloria and Diana. 4 godchildren Freddie, Susanna Pauline, and Hailey, as well as Dee’s son Anthony and his son Angelo.
Lorraine lived her life with so much grace. She brought joy to everyone she met and was her family’s biggest fan. Although she is not here physically, her legacy and the impact she made continues to live on through her family and community.
