Obituary of Salud Dacoron Monta

Salud Dacoron Monta was born in Paco, Botolan, in the province of Zambales, Philippines. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She met her husband, Domingo, a U.S. Navy Sailor, while working as a certified midwife in the Philippines. They were married in 1949 and started their family. They lived in Japan before moving to the U.S.A.

Salud worked for Avon, 15 years as a CNA and 10 years for Van Camp Seafood tuna cannery. Known to her family as an incredible cook, she always made sure no one around her went hungry. Salud was stricken with dementia and passed away peacefully on January 30, 2019. Salud was preceded in death by her husband, Domingo, and her granddaughter, Malia. She will be dearly missed but her children are comforted knowing she will be reunited with her husband, and Malia, in eternal life.

Salud is survived by all of her six children: daughters, Emma Borja of Poway and Susan Castillo of La Mesa; sons Leonardo and Hector of San Diego, Tito of La Mesa, Victor of Escondido; her five surviving grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
