Marilyn Sylvester

Obituary of Marilyn Jeanne Sylvester

I certainly did not want to leave this earth before the Chargers won the Superbowl!!.  It was a little strange as lately I had been missing my husband a great deal  and was curious why these feelings were so strong since he passed away over 10 years ago. My daughter, Sunny Silveira thought her father was sending a message for me to join him.  My favorite time of year, Christmas, was soon to arrive and my daughter was going to surprise me with a fully decorated tree and later to watch the parade of lights on the bay. Instead, in the early morning hours, my heart suddenly stopped.

I leave behind another daughter, Cindy Miller, my son David,  3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. My great grandchild Justin nicknamed me GG when he lived with me for awhile and I want him to know how much it meant for his kindness and respect towards me during those years  I love all of my family equally I assure you, yet everyone could see that he had a very special place in my heart.

Born in Indiana to Gilbert and Beulah Willett we moved to California early on.  I have 1 surviving sister, Carole Schmidt and 2, Beverly and Linda, deceased.  I met Roger at Sweetwater High  and we married in 1954.  I was a homemaker first and later worked at Rohr as a data processor for 30 years.  We enjoyed Square dancing and my husband taught me to water ski even though I never learned how to swim!.  We moved from National City to La Mesa in 1967 and acquired a second home in Arizona on the Colorado River.  After years of problems finally solved with the boat, a most memorable family reunion took place to celebrate my 84th birthday.last October.  Family members included brother-in-law Danny Sylvester and wife Benita, along with my niece and nephew Myrna and Kelly Scott Hudson and their children.  Our captain Doug Phillips who I just can't thank enough for always being there for us, allowed me to drive the boat for the first few minutes, as I always did with Roger, until a problem arose. We got back to shore safely and  Sunny's special margaritas helped to ease the tension of the boat almost sinking.  At home here in La Mesa I spent my evenings watching old movies, Sunday football and my favorite show, Dancing with the Stars. For ten years during the show it was always a treat to answer the anticipated call from Sunny and friends shouting "HI Mom!"

You never know, it may be nice to think that we are somewhere..Dancing among the Stars...

P.S. My greatest wish would be fulfilled in knowing that our legacy to our children brings them much peace and harmony...We will always be with you kids... Love, Mom
