Obituary of Denise Louise Lattizzori

MISSION VILLAGE---Denise, a 2nd generation native San Diegan, passed away November 18th at the age of 83. Denise grew up in North Park and graduated from Hoover High School.

Denise and Keith Roberts raised three children in Mission Village providing an active home for neighborhood parties and social events.

For many years, she was a Camp Fire leader who inspired a generation of girls, sharing her love of camping, arts & crafts, folk dancing, and community service.

Denise’s patriotic spirit began as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She welcomed new citizens into the neighborhood and her home on Amulet Street was the neighborhood polling place for over 40 years.

In 1989, she married Richard Lattizzori who had a mutual passion for sailing. As active members of the sailing community, they participated in races and social events with the Polaris and San Diego Yacht Clubs. For over ten years, they lived aboard their boat, Fruition, traveling along the coast of Mexico and Baja CA having adventures in the Sea of Cortez with their sailing friends.

Dick and Denise not only loved exploring locally with their Convair Travelers camping group, but also globally to places such as China, Tibet, Egypt, New Zealand, Turkey, Cambodia and throughout Europe.

Denise’s hands were always busy tending her garden and her beautiful roses. She delighted in displaying in her front yard mannequin ducks outfitted for every holiday. She enjoyed walking her dogs and talking with everyone she met along the way.

Denise, AKA, Dee Dee by close friends, was known and loved as the life of the party in every social gathering. She was a bundle of joy with unrelenting enthusiasm for life, people and the world. You could not keep her down. She would approach total strangers with her big smile and eagerly listened to their stories. Mom was a talker. She loved to talk and tell stories of her life.  She also listened. Her curiosity about other people and their lives was sincere. She loved parties. She loved her husband Dick. She loved her family, children and grandchildren. She loved adventure!

Denise gave us so much to remember with her unconditional love of family and friends. She will be missed by her husband, Dick,  her son Ken and wife Betty, her daughter Kathy and husband Rudy, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother, Leonard and sister, Judy. She reunites with her daughter, Karen and her parents, Webb and Olive Smith.
