Obituary of Curtis James Hoehn

Curtis was a sincere and loving friend to many. He is deeply missed and will be always be cherished by all he knew. At an early age, his mother nick-named him beamer because of his bright and sunny disposition, he beamed like a ray of sunshine to her. Curtis was born in 1984 to Laurie (Holben) and Curt Hoehn at the Naval Air Station Hospital Lemoore California, joining older sister, Teresa who was six years old at the time. Soon after his birth, the family moved from California to Seeley Lake Montana, his father’s boyhood home. In 1986, the family moved back to California, this time to San Diego. After a short time living in Tierrasanta area, the family moved out to the communities of Santee/Lakeside in the East County of San Diego, where he would spend the rest of his childhood and adult life. He attended Hill Creek and Terra Del Sol Elementary and the Santana/El Capitan High Schools. These schools are from where he developed many friendships and many friendships that continue to this day. His adolescence years were filled with the typical activities boys do – bike riding, roller-blading, video games and just playing from dawn to dusk when not in school. He took karate, played basketball, Pop-Warner football and high school football. He loved the annual summer vacation trips to Montana, where he enjoyed boating, four-wheeling and spending time with his cousins. Post high school, Curtis worked with several local construction companies and shipping companies. His real desire was to enter the Navy and apply for SEAL team training. Unfortunately, due to health issues, this never came to fruition. Although health issues kept him from entering the Navy, he still was a huge into fitness. He loved lifting weights and working out. Curtis was a sports fanatic; he loved football, namely the Chargers. (Even after moving to LA) He never missed watching a game and did attend many of the home games and did on occasion travel to some out of town games. He loved a good tail-gate party with all of his friends there; here he was in his element. Curtis’s legacy is alive today in the many friendships that he made over the years and the positive impact he had on many. Many of his friends have said that Curtis’s friendship, helped make them who they are today. He was proud of all of his friends and their accomplishments, he shared with his dad on many occasions how well his friends were doing with their careers and families. He loved them all and they loved him. The pinnacle in all this was evident in the countless visits by these friends as he was battling his illness. Curtis is survived by his parents, Curt and Laurie, his sister Teresa and his 4-legged brother Pongo. He was preceded in death by his paternal grand-parents, Ethel and Donald Hoehn and maternal grand-parents Louise Rauch and William Holben.
