Obituary of Paolo Annibale

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Paolo Annibale. Paolo was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend to many. He was 74 years old and he will be greatly missed. Paolo was born on June 12, 1944 in Siculiana Sicily. Son of Alfonso Annibale and Antonia Siracusa. He was the youngest of six siblings and is survived by his sisters, Lina D’Assisi and Giuseppina Morreale. Paolo grew up as a young boy in Sicily, spending much of his time playing his favorite sport, soccer and roaming the foothills of this beautiful land with his friends. In 1956 at the age of 12 he followed his family and moved to America. His journey led him to Buffalo, NY where he became an American Citizen and quickly adapted to the American culture embracing new friends and lots of new adventures. After finishing high school, Paolo went on to trade school, completed his cosmetology degree and became a Master Barber. Successfully running his own barbershop and business for many years in Buffalo, NY. He always knew this was his calling. When he was 8 years old, back in Sicily, one of his favorite past times was to hang out at the barber shop with his older brothers and sweep up after the clients. He always said it was his first job at the barber shop. He had clients for over 25 years that loved him. He was also the honorary family barber. It didn’t matter how long his work days were, if someone needed their hair cut, he would set up shop in our basement and take care of them. He loved it so much and was amazing at his trade. Shortly after he opened his first salon he was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War. Although he had to close up his business, he proudly served the US Army for 3 years. He was stationed in Virginia and he loved his time in the Military! He would always describe his time in the service as one of the best life experiences he’d ever had. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Rosa Casucci. A young charismatic Sicilian beauty that also immigrated to America from Siculiana, Sicily. They quickly became best friends and were married within one year. Making all kinds of life long plans, blending both the American way and Sicilian values. They both wanted a large family, settling with three children Alfonso, Antonella and Teresa. His Wife Rosa describes Paolo as a gentleman, a man of few words, and a partner with strong integrity. He was an amazing provider for his wife and kids, always making sure we had everything we needed. We would describe our dad as a deep spirited individual. He would spend countless hours speaking with us about the meaning of life, spirituality and encouraging us to live our lives to the fullest. He wanted us to be educated, travel the world, have a great job and save our money. Even if it was twenty dollars a week, he made sure we were saving for our futures. He embraced his son’s entrepreneur spirit and helped to invest in his businesses. My Dad believed that working for yourself was the best way to be employed. Besides being one of the best barbers in Buffalo, Paolo was probably known best for his love of food! We smile as we write this because he was the most adventurous “Foodie” we’ve ever known. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t try at least once. Introducing this passion and love to his children and encouraging us to have experiences outside of the norm through food. We will carry on this love and make sure to honor him the best way we know how. Daddy, now you can eat all the chili dogs and cheesecake you want. We love you and will miss you every day, forever…. Paolo’s final resting place will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. A beautiful location in San Diego with 365 views of the Pacific Ocean. .
