Obituary of Thomas Michael Miller

Anaconda native Thomas Michael Miller passed away November 15, 2018, in Lemon Grove, California after a long illness. Thomas came into the world on July 10, 1953, the first son of Jack and Bonnie Miller, both of whom predeceased him. He grew up in Anaconda, where he attended local schools and met the love of his life, Gerianne Dayton, whom he married on a beautiful winter day in December while on leave from the Navy. Tom and Geri were together for many years until her death in 2001. They had a daughter, Christine Marie and she and her husband, Dan Abbott, gave Tom three wonderful grandchildren, Haley, Ethan, and Tyler. Tom’s daughter, Shelby Copp and her husband, Nathaniel and their two daughters, Norah and Avery of Kansas, survive as well. After the Navy Tom worked for Caterpillar as a technical writer from which he retired in 2012. Throughout his life Tom spent many hours on the back of a motorcycle, cruising wherever the road took him. He enjoyed camping and anything involving the outdoors, gardening, and collecting vintage Zippo lighters. There wasn’t a mountain road he and his jeep wouldn’t try. Tom is also survived by his siblings Barb (Bernie) Morris, Jackie (Jerry) Haberman, Ken (Marlene) Miller and Marcy Harrison, Aunts Marcella Burns and Beverly Bruner and many nieces and cousins. We will keep our memories of you in our hearts and miss and love you always. Legacy Funeral Home of La Mesa, California is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Montana.
