Barbara Doloris Rodgers

Barbara Doloris Rodgers

September 6, 1948 – February 24, 2021

Barbara Doloris Rodgers ascended to Heaven on February 24, 2021. She passed peacefully at home in Spring Valley, California with her daughters and loved ones by her side. She was 72.

Barb was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri to the late Ida (Hicks) Iske and Rex Iske. Shortly after she was born, they moved to Davenport, Iowa where she was raised. Barb has four siblings, Donald Iske, Dorothy (Iske) Jackson, Doris (Iske) Herbeck, and Ronald Iske. She attended West High School in Davenport. She married shortly after high school to Gary Rodgers, who was in the US Army. She was a wonderful military wife and mother. Though they divorced later in life, they were able to travel the world together and spent many years in Germany. They have two daughters Patty and Deanna Rodgers.  Barb left Europe in the early 90’s to start her new life in California, where she lived the rest of her days. She was blessed with two Grandchildren, Anthony and Maryah Rodgers, and one Great Grandchild, Angelo Rodgers. She loved them with all her heart. They are her shining light.

Barb was preceded in death by her younger sister Doris Herbeck, her parents Rex and Ida Iske, and her ex-husband Gary Rodgers.

Barb had a strong quiet faith in our Lord and Savior. She was a strong, smart, independent woman and she lived life on her terms. Barb did not know a stranger, and she loved to help others. If all she had was the shirt on her back, she would gladly give it up if someone were in need. She had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She loved crafts and enjoyed doing projects with her grandkids. She was a great gardener and could make anything grow. Barb was amazing with a sewing machine, making Halloween costumes, clothes and beautiful quilts. She loved to bake and made the best pies and cookies. She was an immensely proud mother and grandmother, and she loved her daughters and grandchildren fiercely.  Her friends were like family and she cared for them deeply.  Barb always loved hard and strong. She truly loved life and wanted to be around as long as she could. Everyone loved her dearly and she will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace mom. We love you.
