William Bevan Krumm

October 13, 1955 to March 3, 2017

Bill entered into this life on October 13, 1955 in Stamford, Connecticut and joined his father and Suzi’s twin brother on March 3, 2017 in San Diego, California at the age of 61 years.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Suzi Wilkins, stepchildren Scott, Michael, Annie and Lisa, mother Margaret J. Krumm, sister Lauren Robinson, step grandchildren Ria, Micah, and Thomas, and extended family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father Lawrence B. Krumm.
Bill was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with his Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education. He proudly served as head coach at Westport YMCA for 27 years, Connecticut Swimming General Chair, YMCA League President, and USA Swimming Sports Development Consultant for 10 years. His accomplishments include All American Swimmer, Connecticut Coach of the Year, Bruce Hutchinson Memorial Award, Sports Hall of Fame at SCSU, and The Robert Muir Award for Top Senior Swimmer.

Bill’s gift was being able to see the big picture and helping people take the steps to get there. He cared deeply about the hearts, minds and character of each swimmer with whom he worked. Coach Bill set a positive example through his actions, caring, words and empathy for others. He touched the lives of so many swimmers, coaches, parents, friends and family in ways that cannot be replicated. Bill was a master at finding the balance between work and play. He made time for visiting friends and family, camping, hiking, biking, and golf no matter where he went in the world.

My brother was loved by many. And while he was never alone, he lacked that peace and joy that comes with having a life partner. One of the things he was always in search of was that true love you achieve when you find your soul mate. His change of jobs and move to Colorado Springs gave him the ability to create a home and deep relationship with his soul mate Suzi. She brought him the final piece of his life he had been missing. Joy, love, partnership in life's ups and downs and someone to have and hold. I loved my brother deeply, but Suzi brought him something no one else ever did. My grief and sorrow is doubled because of not only my loss, but hers as well. I pray for strength and peace as we all travel this road of grief. Suzi, you will always be a part of our family and my sweet sister. Love Lauren.

What a pleasure it was meeting Bill the first time when Suzi introduced us! I could tell what a beautiful love they shared. He was fun, energetic, engaging and adored my sweet sister. Thank you to his family for welcoming us in too. What a pleasure to have known him. God's love and his peace be with you all!

Suzi and family You will be in my thoughts for many weeks and months through your healing time. Everyone who knows Bill has their own special memories. He was probably the most positive staff member of Club Development. Bill will always be in the Hall Way of Fun... Take care

Bill was not only a great mentor to many of us, he was just the nicest human being. He was kind, caring, and helpful. I loved talking with him just about anything: from swimming, to outdoor activities, to food...etc. He was influential in many lives he touched. He will always be remembered!

Suzi: so sad to hear of Bill's death. I was always impressed with how positive and upbeat he was. I first go to know Bill when I was Sport Dev Consultant for the Eastern Zone and he was coaching in Westport and CT General Chair. When he applied at USA Swimming, I lobbied hard for him to get the position because I knew he would be a positive addition. He was so happy to have found you and finally married you. I am glad you had some happy times together. He was way too young and I'm sure we all thought he had many more years to enjoy his job and his future. Thinking of you. Sue Anderson

Suzi I had the pleasure of meeting Bill in 1985. We started off as adversaries but over the next 30 years we became very good friends. In all that time I have never seen Bill happier than the time he spent with you. He laughed louder and longer, and smiled bigger and brighter with you in his life. A true testament to the love you shared. I will not be able to attend the service in Colorado but please know I will be there is spirit. I will continue to hold you and Bill in my heart for all time. RIP William...you have left your mark on all who shared time with you. Well done my friend..we will miss you.
