Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife of Alexander Rud (Retired USN).
Mary passed away at the age of 90 on Tuesday November 14, 2017.
She was born on March 22nd 1927 in Barberton Ohio, she spent the most of her life in San Diego California. Mary joined the United States Marine Corps Women’s Battalion in April 1944, after being honorably discharged she spent a lot of time fishing which she really loved.
Mary worked on the original Royal Polaris sport fishing boat out of San Diego in her early years, fishing many tournaments and catching many fish in her life, most notably being her record catch of a 385 pound black sea bass in 1960.
Mary enjoyed many other hobbies in her life including bowling and attending and betting on horse races. She was always quick to decorate for partys and upcoming holidays whether it was at the neighborhood bars or her own house.
She always loved to have a good time and would light up the room when she walked in. Mary was loved by many as they were drawn to her charismatic ways and lively personality. Always there to help anyone out and put others in front of herself. She was always surrounded by those she loved and had a large family that is gonna miss her dearly.
Mary is survived by her daughters Donna Carlton of San Diego CA, and Mary Volz of La Mesa CA. Son’s Richard Rogers of El Cajon CA, and Ron Volz of Hawi Hawaii.
Her five grandchildren; Eric McCully, Fonda Vela, Jonathan Carlton, Donald Carlton and Christina Rogers.
Five great grandchildren; Donovan Vela, Alexis Vela, Reese McCully, Dylan McCully, and Aiden Beaver.

A celebration of life will be held at Legacy Funeral home In La Mesa CA. on Sunday November 26, 2017 at 4pm.
