Kathy was born in Newton, Kansas and was a San Diego County resident for more than 50 years.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Preceded in death by her mother, Rozella Gallegos, in 2009 and son, Michael Alvarez, in 2010.
Survived by her husband of 20 years, Tom Eskew, brother, Wayne Brundige, daughter, Angel Alvarez, son, Randy Maddocks, daughter-in-law, Lycia Ortega Maddocks, granddaughters, Chandra Wood and Dominique Alvarez, grandsons, Chad Wood, Alex Scott, Anthony Alvarez and Aaron Alvarez, step-grandson, Isaiah Smith, step-granddaughter, Inaya Smith, and great-granddaughter, Kiara Wood-Bush.
Kathy was a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous and recently celebrated 18 years of sobriety. Kathy sponsored dozens of friends in AA throughout her life and was a strong leader in her local Women’s Group.
Kathy loved her dogs TJ, Queeny and Jack with all her heart. Kathy owned her own tax preparation and bookkeeping business for more than 20 years with clients from all around the country.
She was one of a kind and can never be replaced.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 29 at 11:30am at Crosspointe Life Church in La Mesa with a potluck-style lunch reception immediately following.
