Jeff Frank passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on October 28th after a 20-month battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was 54.
A native San Diegan, Jeff lived in the area most of his life, except for six years of his early childhood when his family lived in Tempe, Arizona.
Jeff was the youngest of seven kids born to Al and Muriel Frank, who preceded him in death along with a brother, Tony, who died in infancy. With 20 years separating Jeff from his oldest sibling, he grew up fast, big and strong. He was swimming like a fish by age two and not long afterwards began playing the first of several seasons of baseball in Lemon Grove Little League.
In 1981, during his senior year at Mt. Miguel High School in Spring Valley, Jeff won a blue ribbon at the San Diego County Fair for a lamp he made in shop class. Jeff parlayed his uncommonly strong work ethic into a nearly 30-year career as a Certified General Electrician specializing in traffic signals, and freeway and street lighting. He was a member of IBEW for 28 years until his medical retirement in 2016.
Jeff enjoyed life to its fullest. Besides being an avid sports fan and “sports encyclopedia,” he loved fishing, golf, traveling, concerts, casinos, movies and Disneyland. He shared all those adventures with his wife Lynn, the love of his life. Jeff and Lynn met on a blind date and became engaged two weeks later. They married on April 29, 2000.
In addition to Lynn, Jeff is survived by brothers Bruce (Kate), Stephen (Diane) and Alfred “Mick” (Barbara), and sisters Phyllis “Pats” and Meredith. Jeff was also a loving uncle (and FUNcle) to Brian, Mike, Kevin, Amy, Brandy, Rachel and Madeline.
Jeff packed a lot of love and life into 54 years and will be greatly missed by his family and his countless friends.
A celebration of Jeff’s life is planned for Friday, November 10th at Sycuan Golf Resort, 3007 Dehesa Road in El Cajon, beginning at 11:00AM. Jeff was a “shorts and flip flops” guy and would want those who can attend to dress comfortably. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jeff’s name to EOD Warrior Foundation, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Labrador Rescuers.
