Our loving son, brother, and uncle, Gregory Thompson, was born on November 21, 1959 in San Diego, California, and went to be with the Lord and his loving Dad on April 5, 2017. His life was filled with love of family and friends and he will be missed by all. Greg enjoyed the outdoors, playing records and CDs, listening and humming along to his favorite music, eating out, and getting dressed up for holiday parties. Fun places for him to visit were Seaport Village, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Viejas Shops and Plaza, and picnics at the park.
We are so thankful for the many caregivers Greg has had over the years who devoted their lives to helping people with disabilities. We are especially thankful for the wonderful care he received at HGH, DSC, Unyeway, La Mesa Work Center, and Paradise View.
He is survived by his mother, Claire Thompson; his brother, Jeff Thompson, and his wife, Janna; his sisters, Kay Findlater and her husband, Dan, and Patricia Nugent, and her husband, John. He is also survived by two nephews and five nieces: Sean Nugent (wife Kristin), Joshua Thompson (wife Alyson), Jamie Dredge (husband Zach), Kristina Nugent, Alicia Nugent (fiancee Devin), Jessica Thompson, and Jacqueline Thompson (fiancee Derek). In addition, he is survived by two grand-nieces: Cailyn Nugent and Addisen Dredge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Thompson, and his uncle, Charles Keller.
A Celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Good Friday, April 14, 2017 at 2:30 PM in the auditorium at Monte Vista Retirement Village, 2211 Massachusetts Ave, Lemon Grove, CA 91945. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Developmental Services Continuum, 7944 Golden Ave., Lemon Grove, CA 91945, to help provide care for his many friends with disabilities so that they can live life to the fullest.
