Bernice A DeMers (Bea), a resident of La Mesa, CA was 85 years old. She passed away on April 28, 2017 at Sharp Grossmont Hospital due to complications from a heart attack.
Bea was born on July 28, 1931 in Hennipen County, MN to Edward Ross and Alice Hutchinson Ross. She was the oldest of five children. She married Oscar Ronglien when she was 18 and had two daughters. She later divorced and in 1961 with her daughters, she followed her mother to San Diego, CA where she met and married Hal DeMers Jr. They bought a home in La Mesa, CA in 1984 where she lived the rest of her life.
Bea was most happiest relaxing in her home with her dog Jake, listening to music, enjoying a good “who done it” or watching baseball (she loved the New York Yankees and Derek Jeter) and on Sunday mornings she enjoyed watching “Joel Osteen / Church TV”. Bea loved her family including all her pets and many dear friends.
Bea is survived by her daughters, Vickie Robinson and Julie Johnson, both residents of La Mesa; her grandaughter, Parish Jaimes and her great grandson, Diego Jaimes, residents of San Diego; step-daughter Debbie Schmidtke from St. Joseph, MO; Bea’s sister Jewel Phillips lives in La Mesa, CA and her youngest sister Connie Brandenburg lives in Minnesota with her three daughters and six grandchildren. Bea’s constant companion Jakey, remains in her home with her sister.
There will be a private memorial at a later date.
